The initial investigation of the fire in Chongqing indicates that it started from a resident's balcony, igniting the exterior wall insulation.
On January 1, 2020, around 5 PM, a fire broke out in Building A4 of the California Garden community in Yubei District, Chongqing. Emergency, firefighting, and public security rescue teams quickly arrived at the scene to evacuate the crowd and extinguish the fire. The open flames were extinguished by 7:20 PM, with no casualties reported.
After the fire broke out, the municipal party committee and government attached great importance to the incident. Relevant city leaders rushed to the scene to command the rescue operations, working with Yubei District to orderly carry out personnel search and rescue and fire extinguishing efforts. By 7:20 PM, the open flames at the scene were extinguished. Firefighters conducted a thorough search and investigation, confirming that there were no casualties.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the fire started from a resident's balcony on the 2nd floor (out of 30 floors) of Building A4 in the California Garden community. The flames burned in a three-dimensional manner, igniting the external insulation layer and awning, spreading to the balcony on the 30th floor and into some residents' homes. The specific cause of the fire is still under further investigation. Currently, Yubei District is making every effort to provide comfort and resettlement for the affected residents.
