Stains There are many reasons for stains to appear on the surface of paint. For example, moisture in latex paint can dissolve substances on the wall, causing rust to appear on the paint surface. Walls that have been scrubbed with steel wool may develop rust stains, and stains can also occur due to leaks from hidden pipes within the wall. To prevent stains, it is advisable to first apply a primer containing aluminum powder. If stains have already appeared, remove the latex paint from the stained area, apply a layer of primer containing aluminum powder, and then repaint. Mold and Discoloration This issue often occurs on damp paint surfaces, such as when moisture condenses on glass or metal surfaces, leading to the formation of dark brown or black stains. In this case, a disinfectant can be used to treat the moldy areas according to the instructions on the label. Once the mold is eradicated, the surface can be cleaned and repainted.

Stains

There are many reasons for stains on the paint surface. For example: moisture in latex paint dissolves substances on the wall, causing rust on the paint surface; walls scrubbed with steel wool can develop rust stains; and stains can appear due to leaks from hidden pipes inside the wall. To prevent stains, you can first apply a primer containing aluminum powder. If stains have already appeared, remove the latex paint from the stained area, apply a primer containing aluminum powder, and then repaint.

Mold discoloration

This problem often occurs on damp paint surfaces, such as when moisture condenses on glass or metal surfaces, resulting in brown-black stains. At this time, you can use a disinfectant and follow the instructions to treat the moldy areas. After the mold is killed, clean the surface thoroughly and then repaint.

Loss of gloss

The reason is that no primer was applied, or the primer and inner layer of paint were not dry before applying the gloss paint, resulting in the gloss paint being absorbed by the wood and losing its gloss. Poor quality of the gloss paint is also a reason.

Use wet and dry sandpaper to grind off the old paint, brush away the dust from sanding, wipe the surface clean with a clean damp cloth, and after it dries, repaint.

It is particularly important to note that painting in very low temperature environments can also cause the paint film to lose its gloss after drying.

Wrinkled paint film

This is usually caused by applying the second coat before the first coat is dry. At this time, the solvent in the lower layer of paint will affect the upper layer of paint film, causing it to wrinkle.

This situation can be remedied by using a chemical paint remover or heating method to remove the wrinkled paint film, and then repainting. Remember, you must wait for the first coat to dry completely before applying the second coat.

Rough paint surface

A newly painted surface may be rough, usually due to using a dirty paintbrush or contamination from the surrounding environment. It may also be due to paint skin mixed in the paint that was not settled and filtered before use, or dust sticking to the paint before it dries.

To prevent the above problems, it is essential to use clean paintbrushes and paint buckets. Before using old paint, be sure to filter it with paint filter paper or clean nylon mesh. Additionally, cover the painted surface with a cover or cardboard while the paint is still wet to prevent dust from settling.

If the paint surface is rough, wait for it to dry, then sand it smooth with wet and dry sandpaper, clean it, and repaint. It is especially important to ensure that the paintbrush is clean.

Dark spots appear on the painted wood surface

This may be due to the wood knots not being sealed before painting. When exposed to sunlight, the knots heat up, causing resin to seep out from the knots. At this time, you can scrape off the paint with a scraper, then sand it with fine sandpaper until the knots are exposed, seal the knots with knot sealer, and after it dries, repaint.

Paint not drying

If the indoor ventilation is poor or the temperature is too low, the paint will dry slowly. You can open all doors and windows to promote ventilation or place a heater indoors to increase the temperature.

If the problem still cannot be resolved, it may be due to the surface being greasy before painting. You can use a chemical paint remover or heating method to remove the paint, thoroughly clean the surface, and then repaint.

Paint surface stuck with small insects

Try to remove the small insects while the paint is still wet, then lightly touch up the surface with a brush dipped in a little oil. If the paint has started to dry, wait until the paint film is completely hardened before removing the insects, so as not to mess up the surface.
