Classification and Performance Requirements of Exterior Wall Coatings
The exterior wall paint is made from high-elasticity silicone acrylic emulsion, titanium dioxide additives, and more. A new type of exterior wall paint has been invented in the UK, which can decompose harmful substances present in the air. As an experiment, this ecological paint will be widely used in Italy starting in March this year. The paint developed by Millennium Chemicals first absorbs and then decomposes nitrogen monoxide, a byproduct produced during the combustion of mineral energy, which is also commonly found in automobile exhaust and smoke.
Low-carbon artistic paint is made using plant materials, incorporating natural wheat straw and native bamboo fibers into the paint manufacturing process. Performance requirements for exterior wall paint
1. Good decorative quality: The exterior wall paint should have rich colors and excellent color retention, maintaining its original decorative performance for a long time.
2. Good weather resistance: Exterior wall paint, being exposed to the atmosphere, must withstand wind, sunlight, salt spray corrosion, rain, and temperature changes. Under the long-term repeated effects of these external natural environments, the coating is prone to cracking, powdering, peeling, discoloration, and other phenomena, causing the coating to lose its original decorative protective function. Therefore, it is required that the coating should not exhibit the aforementioned destructive phenomena within the specified service life.
3. Good stain resistance: Due to significant differences in environmental conditions across different regions in China, cities with heavy industry and mining often have high levels of dust and other suspended substances in the atmosphere, which can cause easily stained coatings to lose their original decorative effect, thus affecting the appearance of buildings. Therefore, exterior wall paint should have good stain resistance, making it difficult to be contaminated or easy to clean after contamination.
4. Good water resistance: The exterior wall paint surface is exposed to the atmosphere and is frequently washed by rainwater. Therefore, the exterior wall paint coating should have good water resistance.
5. Good mildew resistance: The exterior wall paint surface is prone to mold growth in humid environments. Therefore, the coating is required to inhibit the growth of mold and algae.
Additionally, depending on different design function requirements, higher demands are placed on exterior wall paint: for example, in the application of various exterior wall insulation system coatings, the exterior wall coating is required to have good elastic elongation to better adapt to cracking of the surface layer due to deformation of the substrate, and to cover small cracks in the substrate; for exterior wall paints with decorative effects on aluminum-plastic panels, better metallic texture and ultra-long outdoor durability are also required.
